Radio Shuttle (Pallet Shuttle) places a self-driving robot on rails inside each rack lane. Forklifts only deliver or retrieve the shuttle at the lane face; the robot pushes pallets deep. Density approaches Drive In, while inbound/outbound cycles stay more stable with lower collision risk.
Versus Drive In and full AS/RS
Drive In costs less in equipment but depends on driving skill in dark tunnels and slows down as lanes deepen. Full AS/RS with stacker cranes / multi-shuttle automates the aisle and integrates more deeply with WCS, at higher CAPEX. Shuttle Rack sits in between: semi-automated, with shuttle count scalable to volume.
